Hello, I’m not sure I understand the problem. The “lock” is there to make sure you don’t change any of your search settings after you change/update them to your liking. The lock doesn’t change the ability to search. Just make sure “ALL FIELDS” is selected in search options (puts a check next to all search options) and click rebuild search DB once to make sure your search database is up to date with what tracks are in your case/s.

There is a news ticker now (scrolling marquee). Options -> configuration. You can enable it there. No singers however — that is still something the Karaoki developer is working on.

Also, from Alan: “The 7.xxxx builds use a very old version of the audio engine that don’t use DirectX 12”

Clearly it’s some type of incompatibility with the latest audio engine version built around DirectX 12 and a recent windows update.

I ran this by Alan — his feedback:

“Have them try rolling back Windows and see if that works (last couple of Windows updates)…. The only other option is to identify and remove any offending update service packs (all start with KBxxxxx), start with the newest and work backwards…

The issue is with an update to DirectX12 that’s affecting the Audio engine (of which we are using the latest version) on some machines and our partner for the audio engine development is aware of the issue but as yet cannot recreate it..
I cannot recreate the issue here either.

Could you get system specs (windows build, CPU, Graphics card etc.) for users that are reporting issues as we may be able to build picture from the specs that could help solve this issue.”

It’s an interesting one. It seems only some machines have been impacted with the issue. It’s obviously something to do with the Visual C++ runtime libraries/.net framework, but we haven’t been able to dial in specifics yet.

Yes, many customers have been having this same issue. It’s related to a recent Windows 10 “update”.

Try this new build of Karaoki – while we haven’t completely verified, it should address this issue:

I’ve never heard of the on-screen crossfader ‘sticking’ (unless it’s still moving during automix). Can you elaborate on this?

DEX 3 does have an automatic filler music player that always kicks back on at the same spot of the song it faded out on. The filler music player will fade out when you start a karaoke track (when using load singer to load/play karaoke tracks from rotation), and fade back in when the karaoke song stops. But, if you’re using another deck for a video file, you are likely not using the automatic filler music player, and as such you can only do things manually as you have been doing.

I am more curious about the crossfader ‘sticking’ thing – that’s never been reported prior to my knowledge. Also, you can map the crossfader to keystrokes if you wish (using the LEARN feature to map the left/right movements). That way you don’t have to use a mouse to move the on-screen fader.

Karaoke File Name fixer won’t unzip the files, just rename them. Try starting over with fresh database. If you’re using the latest 3.14 of DEX 3, go into options, under the general tab and click the “Data Folder” button. When the folder opens, CLOSE DEX 3. Then, from within the folder go into the database folder. In that folder DELETE the file labeled “database”. Now launch DEX 3 again and batch import all your karaoke songs again. See if the issue persists (wondering if your DB was corrupted somehow, just not sure, but this will help eliminate or confirm the issue).

    (1. The price is way too high for a guy just getting started in the KJ game and considering the other problems I had with it.

What problems? I’m honestly not aware of any operational issues with Party Tyme at the moment so if you can be specific it would be helpful. We have no open tickets with any specific issues with the platform.

Keep in mind the cost of a karaoke track is $2.49-$3 a song, so acquiring a quality library for professional use is very expensive if you go the traditional route. $99 for over $45,000 in inventory is a bargain. It’s natural overhead, which any business deals with. The only other subscription on the market is from Karafun, and their pro option is $129 a month. This is commercial use, thus extra licensing is involved for the manufacturer. Karaoke Cloud Pro was $99 back when they offered around 8,500 songs (after they lost the SONY/EMI catalog they dropped the price to $49.99, but then to $19.99 at the start of the Pandemic).

    (2. As far as 15,000 songs;.not on my computer. The catalog showed between 2 and 4 duplicate songs for each song’

This is not the case. What you’re seeing is results from the built in song store. If that’s enabled as well as the subscription, you will see those songs in search results, too. They offer 2 versions in the store (HD and MP3+G), thus the reason you see triples. Go into options, under the karaoke tab, and disable the store. Then, restart DEX 3. This will remove those songs from the store. When you access “Catalog” under the Party Tyme Karaoke tab (left side of DEX 3) and scroll to the bottom of the list you will see the song count.

    (3. The songs didn’t always show a 30-second demo. I would have to open 2 sometimes 3 of the duplicate programs, including recording time, to find one that would download and play the whole song.

The “DEMO” songs are again, from the PartyTyme.net store (not the subscription). These are songs for sale. It’s for those with exiting catalogs that simply want the ability to buy songs as they go when needed. For those that subscribe to ALL songs, even with the 7-day free trial, you can play all songs from the subscription in their entirety.

    (4. Song library seemed limited. At least 1 out of 10 popular songs requested could not be found using the search feature.

Welcome to karaoke. No one provider has ALL songs. What you get with the subscription is everything Party Tyme offers in their catalog (everything they’ve licensed/recorded to date). Also keep in mind a lot of “popular” karaoke songs have NEVER been legally licensed for karaoke (or the licenses were lost). Here’s a small sampling of artists on the karaoke no fly list: https://www.pcdj.com/karaoke-no-fly-list-these-singers-dont-want-you-to-sing-their-songs/

It’s boils down to this: If you’re karaoke software provider like us, you have two choices for karaoke subscription integration – Party Tyme and Karaoke Cloud Pro. Party Tyme has been much better at keeping up to date and releasing new songs regularly. The files are in HD MP4 as well. Users will sometimes supplement the subscription with songs they purchase elsewhere (such as karaokeversion.com) if they really need a track and PT doesn’t offer it for some reason.

I hope this helps better understand things 🙂

Wait, so you’re saying the party tyme files play fine, but not yours?

Are you using unzipped mp3+G files? Could you have moved either the CDG or MP3 files to a different directory? meaning, they are no longer in the same folder on your hard drive (they would need to be in the same folder and labeled exactly the same for DEX 3 to play both audio/video for the karaoke track)?

Are they actually mp3+G, or a different format?

in reply to: Songs play video only – no audio sound wave #27760

    Ryan Sherr

It does remember the last setting every time. The issue is on windows (especially 10) the audio interface (sound card) will not TURN ON at all until something is plugged into the headphone jack. Therefore, if you open up DEX 3 without something plugged into the jack, DEX 3 will not see the device, and default to nothing at all. So, if you make sure to always have something plugged into the jack prior to opening up DEX 3 it won’t be a problem. However, even better, using a pro audio USB interface with 2 stereo outputs (so you also have headphone pre-fade listening, with 2 channel output and superior connections) you won’t ever run into the issue providing it’s plugged in before you launch DEX 3.

If you tried those setting “asio” — when you select the options, does it show the channels on the drop down menus? Such as 1+2 next to Deck A (under the audio routing tab in options)? If not, that means the sound card isn’t talking to the driver. The driver/device needs to be plugged in/on prior to opening up DEX 3 for it to access the device and driver.

Go into options, under the “audio routing” tab, and make sure your correct audio output device is selected under ‘select audio device’ (drop down menu). That’s likely your issue!

Karaoke Cloud Pro is only for use with our older Karaoki software. It’s not supported in DEX 3/LYRX. DEX 3 supports the (much better) Party Tyme Karaoke subscription, which includes over 15,000 songs vs only 5,000 with cloud pro (and much more current titles, too). What was the issue with Party Tyme? It’s been running super smooth from day one. The files are higher quality (mp4), you can stream AND download songs for offline playback, and the catalog is significantly more robust than Cloud Pro.

Cloud Pro only works with Karaoki. You can cancel your Karaoke Cloud Pro subscription on this page:

That wouldn’t be a zip issue. A zip issue would happen as soon as you load the song to a deck (when DEX 3 attempts to unzip the file but fails for some reason). This sounds like something totally new to us. Do you have any files you can re-create the issue with? Can you send me a couple of them? rsherr AT PCDJ dot com.

in reply to: Best Practices for managing File and Folder changes #27738

    Ryan Sherr

Since Karaoki case data is all predicated on ‘file path’, any changes to the path of the files (including file names) will result in dead/broken links in Karaoki. Thus, it will be required to do a complete rebuild and import the songs from their new location.

in reply to: Second Monitor does not work #27717

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

Again, are you loading the songs into the side list first, as demonstrated in the video I provided a link to prior? Make sure you’re in the “LIST” in the sidelist, not the karaoke rotation list (so the list icon above the sidelist should be clicked, not the microphone icon). If there are songs in the regular sidelist (not karaoke rotation list) than automix should mix down the list of songs, fading from track to track seamlessly.

This is really the wrong thread/forum to continue to ask questions about DEX 3 (this is a thread regarding Karaoki).

As long as you have songs in the sidelist/automix list the automix will load/play them. This video may help:

If you have songs in the sidelist and they’re not loading, it because they are dead/broken links – songs are not actually attached to the entries in the database. It means the songs were in once place when you imported them into DEX 3 but now they have moved, so that results in broken links in the DB.

The screen 2 floating window always recalls the very last X/Y position it was in when you last closed it down. Go into options in DEX 3, click the “data folder’ button under the general tab. This will open up the new location of the data folder (in version 3.14). Now close DEX 3. Go into the “settings” folder and delete the file labeled “preferences”. After that, relaunch DEX 3 and the floating window will initialize and then ‘close’. You will then be able to launch it again by clicking the center preview video window on screen or from the check box in options.

If you’re not always going to use the same screen 2 configuration I recommend you minimize the floating screen 2 windows and bring it back to your main display prior to closing DEX 3.

What are the specifications of your MAC? Are you running DEX 3.14 now?

Also, we have automatic crash logging in DEX 3.14 right now – the only DEX 3 specific crash logs we’re receiving right now are zip karaoke file related (unsupported zip formats). This will be addressed with a new unzip method, which will launch in the next DEX 3 update.

Singer scroll is one, but better overall performance and better data storage/handling is a big thing Alan’s been working on. He’s revising the remote request terminal as well for better third-party support (such as for songbookDB). Not a whole lot of new right now, but definitely some tweaks to existing functionality. Development on the Karaoki side is obviously a bit slower.

    Ryan Sherr

Yes, I’m aware it doesn’t work. I was contemplating a method for doing what you requested/wanted — finding a specific song within the singers history. I think it may be a good, feasible method, but development will have to decide that. They may have another suggestion, but it’s going into the development ‘to-do’ list — Especially after your feedback above (different manufacturer’s etc — it makes perfect sense to me now why this should be a feature!).

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

Curious, why even use history if you’re just searching for a specific song for them to sing? Why not just search the song, drag it to rotation, apply it to their name? Key changes? Serious question 🙂

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

I see. You can of course just SORT the singers history by title and find the track by scanning that way, but I think I have a good idea of how this can work in DEX 3/LYRX. Click the S, type in the singers name, then a “space” and the title of the song to locate it within the history list. Something like that anyway. I’ll send the idea to development. Interestingly enough, we do not seem to regularly receive this request from customers. Could be that each singers history isn’t as extensive as it sounds yours are. I appreciate the input!

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

That’s not entirely correct. In DEX 3, you have the new “S” button in the search box window. Click it, and type in the singers name to view their entire singer history (with key changes, when applicable). This is also in LYRX (same method).

In Karaoki you can click the singer data button at the bottom (person’s head with an arrow pointing at it) and view the list of singers/history. You can sort the list but not ‘search it’.

I wish the SongbookDB integration was a bit more seamless (less time exporting, uploading, tweaking etc). Alan is discussing some updates with them right now so we’ll see. Thanks, Jocarbo (can I just call ya “Joe”, or would that be incorrect?!? 🙂 ). It’s definitely different.

I’m truly happy you’re fond of Karaoki. Hopefully we can start rolling out updates more frequently, starting with this next one.

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

I’m the PCDJ GM, not a forum moderator 🙂 I oversee all areas at PCDJ, including development, and don’t really play favorites from a company standpoint, although I certainly have my personal favorites over the last two decades. I use DEX 3 as I primarily DJ. With that said, Alan has created software for us for 16+ years now and is rewarded when Karaoki sells. That’s his motivation. I communicate with him on issues, new features, windows 10 updates, weekly. Karaoki is still very much a point of emphasis for PCDJ, but it’s developed on it’s own path and at its own pace.

I always send out an email when updates (to any PCDJ product) are posted. They very often end up in spam, however. When the new update posts (just got this back from Alan BTW!: “Yep, I’m still working on the update to Karaoki and its about 98% done”) I will be sure to extract the latest list of registered user emails and send to all.

Jocarbo, Are you sure you’re not referring to DEX 3, not LYRX? DEX 3 IS a do-it-all software, for audio/video/karaoke. For those types of products, it’s karaoke-specific feature set is significantly better. It has the same karaoke features as LYRX, but does require some setup to understand how to use it for karaoke-specific purpose. There is one specific playlist of tutorials on our YouTube channel that explains how to set it up for karaoke-specific use. LYRX is only for karaoke, and streamlined for that purpose.

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

LYRX is $79, it’s very snappy, supports low latency drivers, native support for all video formats, a superior karaoke subscription option in Party Tyme, a built-in song store, very high-quality key-lock/time stretching – and bpm/key detection, support for over 1 million + songs in the file browser with instant search-as-you-type, automatic gain control, tracks are blended (ins/outs) during filler music – nice transitions – and quite a bit more.

To me, it just feels “today” and Karaoki, like nearly all other long-time karaoke programs, is a little bit dated (after all, they are all built on open source CDG code released 15+ years ago).

Now that LYRX has manage rotation, singer history (with new singer search) etc, it’s just missing some additional settings (like different rotation modes and filler music playback modes) and some further polish.

This takes nothing away from Karaoki, but I think the younger generations of KJs gravitate to LYRX over Karaoki (and many trial both first) for the reasons I mentioned.

We also do not heavily promote any products. No ads, no pay-per-click, nothing. Referrals, social media posts, and on-page SEO is all that drives our traffic these days.

Anyway, this is moot as Karaoki clearly has its following and support. I know which product I’d use if I were hosting events, and it’s OK, even great, that we all have our own ideas of what we want out of our karaoke hosting product 🙂

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

So it’s also clear – we are not part of SongbookDB. They are a company out of Australia http://www.songbookdb.com — if you have features requests etc, I would reach out to the directly. In my experience they have been very receptive to customer input!

    Ryan Sherr

The last update was 7049, here: https://www.pcdj.com/karaoke-software-try-karaoki-beta-0-8-7039-with-new-skin/

He did recently release a patch specifically to address issues with Karaoke Cloud Pro, here: https://www.pcdj.com/karaoki-update-karaoke-cloud-pro-april-14-2020/

He is very much still working on updates. The .NET framework has been a bit of a pain lately as MS has released some updates that have broken some underlying functionality. In order for Karaoki to remain backwards compatible with XP/Windows 7, we’re still using an older iteration of Visual C++ runtime libraries. Making things continue to work with those libraries under the most recent windows 10 updates have been a real mess. So, he’s doing some refactoring and has his hands full.

He’s trying to get out a new release, which will be of the maintenance variety, with a couple additional features. Progress will likely continue to be much slower on the Karaoki side vs all other products as he’s a one-man show and his time isn’t entirely dedicated to the development of the product. He’ll get there, though!

I’m actually surprised (jocarbo) that you said that regarding LYRX. We’ve heard nearly the complete opposite (also, trials to purchase conversion rate is about 10X that of Karaoki right now). I think its way more intuitive in general, but certainly lacks the depth and breadth of underlying features/settings that Karaoki offers right now. But, what’s there, works great, and it’s all very easy to figure out IMO. Of course, when you’re used to doing something one way and have to change things up, that’s often more difficult to do than working with something new from the start.

Regardless, Karaoki isn’t going anywhere. Yes, it’s a legacy product, designed prior to our company buying PCDJ in 2008, but it certainly has a following, and receives recommendations from other KJs often. They are the bulk of Karaoki’s sales — referrals.

I suggest everyone join our FB user group. We post there (including updates) much more frequently then here on the forums. The user group is much busier, too. You can ask to join on this page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/208451843303338/

I do not suspect you will see Alan post here unless completely necessary. He has a family, and configures custom plant machinery/computer systems (writes custom code) for vary large factories all over EU and elsewhere. He’s on call all the time. With that said, this still remains his passion, and he still hosts karaoke from time to time. I trust he will push out a nice update that addresses some bugs that have pops up (almost entirely due to Visual C++ framework updates MS has pushed out over the last couple of years). It should introduce ‘singer scroll’, too.

LEARN only works for controllers we do not already natively support. The only way you can re-assign knobs/sliders/buttons on a map that’s already been created is by editing the JS (script file) directly. You would need a general understanding of JavaScript in order to do this, however. You can also completely delete the map file and start with a fresh slate, then use LEARN to re-map everything (although LEARN doesn’t offer tight support for items like jog wheels and LED lights – so using our script is likely preferred)

ID3 extraction on zip files is going to take a LONG time. It has to unzip each file to look inside at the tag. Processor speed/RAM play a part.

In order to re-scan files already in a case successfully (files that were previously imported) you have to select all files (highlight all) and make sure “selected tracks only” is applied as well. This video covers it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMC6Qz7AxSA

Basically, just highlight ALL songs like the video displays (instead of just a small group) and apply the right extraction method for your existing karaoke file naming conventions. With your example, it would be “discID – artist – Title”. That’s the most popular naming convention and as such it’s the first option under the drop down menu.

If you’ve already done the id3tag extraction than it’s likely the best way to go at this point.

However, I don’t think we’ve ever had someone suggest that the downbeat is wrong nearly that much of the time. What format of music are you mixing, mostly? Are you using DEX 3.13.0.6? Deck A through D: 1+2

How are you ‘deleting’ the singer from rotation? Be sure you’re using the normal method instead of actually deleting them/their history. Double-click their name in rotation to bring up their singer data screen – click the IN ROTATION toggle button to pull them out of rotation (which will not DELETE them from the show along with their history, this just removes them from rotation).

You are in FIXED rotation mode, correct?

That means you have dead links in the cache. It means the path to the files in question has changed since the first time you batch imported them into the DB. When you open/access a folder directly, you’re not using the cache, thus you’re directly accessing the files in their folder, and they will indeed load/play. My bet is you use an external hard drive and at some point the drive letter was changed, resulting in dead links. You can test this by right-clicking in any list, such as the database (middle section of the file browser), and select “remove dead files” — give DEX 3 some time to ‘think’, and it will report back with how many dead files were found and removed.

You may then want to batch re-scan all tracks into the DB, just to make sure all products are searchable.

MP4 files support “TAGS” – which are standardized, and as such will display better in the DEX 3 browser without any editing. They are also ‘one file’, instead of 2 (mp3+G, albeit in a zip). I prefer Mp4 for these reasons. However, they are larger in file size, so that’s the trade-off.

Interesting indeed. If you’re just using your built in laptop audio interface and/or direct sound, try using asio4all instead:

Go to http://www.asio4all.org and install asio4all (first download link on the page, British flag). Open up DEX 3 and under the ‘audio routing’ tab in options, select asio4all v2 from the ‘select audio device’ drop down menu. See how DEX 3 performs for you then!

Hello Jerry, the in-app stores have been gone for years actually. Sounds like you were using a much older release. Select a Track, the main store, is from a company based in the UK. They are no longer legally able to sell downloads to the USA. Their store is therefore only accessible from the UK/EU. The karaoke cloud store hadn’t been updated in quite some time before we decided to no longer offer it through Karaoki. We do have the Party Tyme Karaoke store built into LYRX at this time, but do not have any options for Karaoki at the moment. That may change.

Singers/songs/key changes are written to history in LYRX. Just click the little “S” button in the search box in LYRX and search for the singers name. All their songs will display, along with key changes. Just drag/drop to rotation to populate.

You can also move songs from history to a ‘user list’ for future use. This tutorial will help (it’s for DEX 3 but it will work the same way in LYRX – just be sure to select more than one song from history at a time when dragging/dropping to your user list): https://www.pcdj.com/dex-3-pro-tip-generating-a-user-list-from-singer-history-video/

The issue is very likely because of how SongbookDB communicates to singers in the database. Even though you’re in a ‘new show’ singers can be imported into that show from any previous show. Thus, when songbookDB ‘calls’ to the singer in the DB to add them to rotation, they go in along with their history. It’s basically importing the singers into their new show with their history intact. I’m honestly not sure if there’s any fix other than having the singers create different accounts/singer names to associate with the ‘new show’ only.

    Ryan Sherr

Yes, it works great, you just have to manually assign the audio routing the correct way. For this you need to either select the WASAPI option, or in my opinion, a better solution is asio4all for lower latency control (and better performance).

    Here’s what I would do:

You need to close DEX 3, download and install Asio4all from http://www.asio4all.org – then, open up DEX 3, go into options, under the audio routing tab select ‘asio4all v2’ from the ‘select audio device’ drop down menu. Then, click the “ASIO control panel” button (also under the audio routing tab in options) and then press the little power/play button next to the “DDJ-SB3” text (to the left of it) to assign asio4all to the Pioneer controller option. Then you can exit the asio4all control panel – exit out of DEX 3, open it back up.

Also under audio routing, your configuration for headphone cueing will be:

    Deck A through D: 1/2
    Headphones 3/4

ALL other options should be set to none or no audio. Do NOT put a tick in the box for external mixer mode. That will do it. You can also use WASAPI the same way. (which is the windows default multchannel driver, but it’s been a little flaky after a recent win10 update).

Let me know how it goes!

    Ryan Sherr

It’s two stereo channels. Remember, since you plug your headphones directly into it you only need one stereo output. The DJ2GO2 has a mixer built in, so no need for 2 sets of RCA outputs, just one ‘main’ output and the headphones plug in directly. They don’t make 19″ standalone rackmount controllers anymore, unfortunately.

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

The Gigaport AG doesn’t have proper Windows 10 drivers. In order to get proper 2 stereo output and low latency performance, you need to use the native ASIO drivers that ESI created for the Gigaport. The issue is they do not have suitable ASIO drivers for Windows 10. I would recommend a Scarlett 2i4 from Focusrite if you plan to keep using the DAC-3. However, nearly all of the newer DJ controllers we support have built in 2 stereo output audio interfaces. If you like something small/slim like the DAC-3, maybe a Numark DJ2GO2 would work. Here’s our full list of supported DJ controllers: https://www.pcdj.com/dj-controllers/

The DAC-3 issue sounds more like a contact is going bad in the play button — something pretty common with the DAC-3s after longtime use. Not much can be done since we no longer have any parts. Another reason why you may want to consider a more current DJ controller with built in pro-audio interface.

Let us know if you have any further questions!

Not sure there are too many 4-channel options that will have a smaller footprint than the DDJ-SX3. But, checkout the Reloop Touch or the Denon MC6000 MKII for potential options.

If you click on “Search Results” on the left side of Karaoki that view makes the singer rotation list area larger on the right, and search results display in the middle library pane (larger area).

And you’re right, Karaoki will always place the singer at the very bottom of the list. At least I believe that’s the case. However, try right-clicking in the rotation list and go to ‘rotation options’. Select the option for “place singers last in rotation”. I believe that was what the feature was designed to do, but not 100% certain!

First off, I responded to another thread regarding the version of Karaoki you must install. Install that version, and if it opens fine, install the latest Karaoki version from the top of the Karaoki support page here: https://www.pcdj.com/support/karaoki_support/

Thanks — I will say the ‘lock’ issue wasn’t intentional. It was a bug in Delphi (the programming language the old RED 5.2 etc were designed with) that impacted many products a few years back. Rolling back the clock or using your solution has worked for many. I have seen various issues with compatibility mode on Win10 however, but if it works for you, great.

One other question – are your files ZIPPED or just mp3+G (with both files in a folder)? It could be that you have “tags” which are standard, but most karaoke files do not have them. You can try selecting all files, right-click, select scan using naming convention, and select ‘selected tracks only’, and apply the very last option from the extraction method drop down menu (Id3 extraction). If you have tags, this will work to place the appropriate data in the correct browser fields/columns.

in reply to: Ugggggg …. new problem for me #27123

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

You’re selecting the wrong extraction method then for your file naming conventions. How exactly is the full file name of the song listed on your hard drive? I’ll let you know which method to select. Karaoki is not “miss-reading it” – you have to tell Karaoki how your files are named so it can read it correctly. It’s not a ‘problem’ – and all professional karaoke software products have similar methods for extraction the file name data to place the data in the appropriate columns within the browser. If you can’t figure this out, just call me Monday at our offices (I’ll be at extension 1) and I can either talk you through it or do a remote session and show you. Let me know!

in reply to: Ugggggg …. new problem for me #27121

    Ryan Sherr

It sounds like you just need to apply the correct file name extraction method for those particular songs. If there is no space before or after the hyphen separation character, for example, you would make sure that option is not checked on the extraction method screen. This video may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMC6Qz7AxSA

Uncheck the “space – space” option on the main extraction method screen since the file names in question don’t have spaces before and after the hyphen (you have underscores instead). There are about 20 different naming conventions that are popular with Karaoki files, so you have to ‘tell’ Karaoki how your files are labeled by selecting the proper extraction method options.

Hi John, if you review this documentation on this page it will explain how to update the internal DB and search/tag cache when you add new songs to your HD. Basically, nest your main music folders under ‘favorites’ — and when you add new songs to a folder, open up DEX 3 and click on the corresponding folder — as soon as you ‘see’ the songs they are added to the internal database/search cache. The database ‘lists’ is just a quick method to add everything you have right now to ensure it’s all searchable etc: https://www.pcdj.com/suggested-method-importing-tracks-into-dex-3-updating-library/

    Ryan Sherr

Yes, it may be a bug, a couple others have reported it but it doesn’t seem to occur for all users. I am having development review it. You are performing the process correctly.

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

So you only have 20 songs in a case, and you can’t delete them? Very strange. Try this though, after deleting the songs from the case, click on another options on the left hand side of the browser (such as ‘search results’). Then, click back on the name of the case where you deleted the songs. Are they still gone? If so, try re-starting Karaoki again to see if they ‘stay gone’.

LYRX will have support for a remote request system early 2020 – a system like SongbookDB.

    Ryan Sherr
    Keymaster

I would suggest trying our LYRX software over Karaoki if this is important to you. Karaoki can only manage about 80,000 songs or less per case — and when they get as large as your library contains, various DB related issue can occur – such as not being able to delete songs from cases for good. LYRX will manage over 1 million songs in a case. For 500K songs however, I would advise to use a computer with at least 12GB of RAM to manage the search/tag cache appropriately. You can check out LYRX here: http://www.lyrxkaraoke.com

The amount of songs isn’t the issue then. I’m wondering if there is a write permissions issue (can’t write to documents) — which can be caused by a corrupt user profile (which tends to happen to those that suffer the issue after a win10 update). Do ANY settings/changes stick after shutting DEX 3 down and relaunching it?
