I have tried it several times and it does happen. Not when loading a song manually via drag and drop, but when I have a list of singers with songs and press the ‘Load Next Singer’ button. The song begins to play as soon as it begins to load and if the intro starts before the song is fully loaded, I hear the sudden increase in volume when the songs gain is normalized. Now this does not happen when using for DJ music and two decks, as the music is loaded well before it is needed to play, but the Karaoke is an on demand when using the LYRX skin and as such it is loaded when the next singer steps up.
Thank you for the information on bringing up the singers history, and as for the saved tempo, I have a following that are pretty good singers, some are in such shows as 50’s/60’s/Elvis tribute shows. And yes, they will ask for specific song/manufacturer with key & tempo changes.
The Software I have used up to now saves Pitch/Tempo for each singer in their history. In all honesty, the software I currently use is almost perfect for the task, including a slider to allow syncing of the lyrics to the song in something has gotten out of wack. However DEX3 has Gain Normalization and a wider pitch change adjustment. Which for the group that follow me are two huge pluses. This is the reason I am keeping my eye on the Karaoke functionality of DEX3. I already use DEX3 exclusively when DJ’ing and would like to if possible use it for all my entertainment needs.
Yes, the first thing I did when I finally got it to open was to disable the Party Tyme and Karaoke.Net services. Going to try running it without the Microsoft Security or Malwarebytes running and see if I still have the Hit/Miss application start.February 14, 2019 at 12:49 am in reply to: DEX 3 Wishlist – What Features Would You Like To See Added? #25837
I did notice tonight while checking out the LYRX side of the DEX3 software that it indeed did jump in volume after the song fully loaded, which was nice to hear to ensure that it was indeed applying a gain normalization to the karaoke song, however is there a way to pause the song start till after the song is fully loaded so you don’t hear that volume change in the intro?
I agree with the Fade in and out option for the songs as Rolex mentioned, That would be a beneficial feature. Also a slider for Tempo, (As I still have not found the secret to setting tempo) and singer history that saves indefinitely to bring up in a mouse click the singers whole song history, retaining the Pitch/Tempo of the previously sung songs.
I have tried excluding the PCDJ folder along with the DEX3.exe and LYRX.exe files in Microsoft Security, Malwarebytes and in windows firewall, and it is a 50% hit/miss. Which is even more frustrating. With the Task Manager open when I start DEX3 I watch the amount of RAM used. If it stops anywhere between 79.4 – 79.9 mb, then it is frozen and must be forced closed and tried again. Other times it will shoot past the 79mb threshold and will fire right up. This all while changing nothing. I have yet to try it on my working machine, as I like to be sure it will work on my desktop before installing it to my laptop. I am well beyond specs for these programs and previous versions, without the Karaoke.net issue have worked flawlessly for the most part. I will continue to test it out on my desktop and see if I can run down the culprit causing the issue. One observation I have made. When I turn off Malwarebytes (MB), it seems much harder to get DEX3 to run with just Microsoft Security (MS) running. About 20% of the times tried. I run both MS and MB and it runs 50% or the times tried.
Thanks for the response Ryan.
Sorry, posted above to wrong place.
Still having issues with DEX3 not wanting to open when virus protection software is running. In order to get it to open at all, I need to disable the virus checkers totally. Now, when my working machine was never connected to the internet, this would not have been an issue, but now that songs can be streamed, and in the case of the Karaoke side, purchased directly through the software, my machine is connected and the virus prevention software is always on. Who wants to get a virus in their working machine? Even using the most basic Windows Security prevention software adversely affects the proper operation of DEX3, Due to this major issue, the newest versions of DEX3 are useless to me and I have had to rely on a much older version to continue to work with. Is there any timeline on when this issue will be worked out so we can use the software and also stay protected from viruses? This is the exact same issue I have with the demo version of LYRX for windows. ThankFebruary 11, 2019 at 4:01 pm in reply to: DEX 3 Wishlist – What Features Would You Like To See Added? #25793
I would like to see something I have never seen in Karaoke software to date. Song normalization. I really appreciate the feature in the DJ end of the software, and as many KJ’s know, the difference in volume between songs of different manufacturers can be drastic. This leads us to not only have to keep an eye on the Mic volume, but also every song that is played. I personally think it would be an amazing feature.
Not having the best of luck with this version. When I first installed it, it loaded up and seemed to run as it should but there was a problem with my song list. I cleared my list and shut it down to start it again and re-import my music. Well getting it to load again required me to reboot the machine. If i load DEX3 and for some reason need to restart the program, it requires a reboot every time. If I do not reboot and try to load it a second time, the splash screen comes up, the small video comes up and a smaller window behind it, as usual before loading fully, except this time it just stalls and sits there eternally without fully loading. I have tried removing all third party codecs, uninstalling and deleting all related directories from all folders including Documents and installing again. All to no avail. Still need to reboot in order to run again. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.
