I am running Windows 10 and I am unable to use my second monitor with Karaoki even though I have extended monitor mode turned on. I don’t even see the 2nd screen button on my main monitor from Karaoki like the You Tube Video shows to set it up.October 23, 2017 at 9:35 am #15276
The screen 2 button has been relocated to the bottom of Karaoki, to the left of the options button (has a little “2” on the button!). Try that and let us know!November 26, 2017 at 4:26 am #15660
Hi I too have the same problem (just upgraded to 8.6) and using a new laptop with Windows 10. When I click on the screen 2 button it just brings it up on the extended screen within the Karaoki window. not as a separate window like it used to on my old Windows 7. Is it a problem with compatibility with Windows 10?November 27, 2017 at 9:55 am #15689
The newer builds of Karaoki have an option so the 2nd screen can be made to open in a window (instead of full screen), this is because some graphic cards incorrectly report the monitor number and Karaoki then opens the 2nd screen in the wrong place. When the 2nd screen is opened in a window, drag the window onto the screen you wish it to be displayed on and then click the maximise button.
The ‘Always Open Screen 2 in Window’ option is in the ‘Video Options’ section of the main options menu.

Hi still on my quest, Can I use a vga to hdmi connector to connect the second screen. Or does it have to be vga to vga.
PaulJanuary 23, 2018 at 12:25 pm #16285
A VGA to HDMI adapter should work fine. I know others have successfully used them with Karaoki.January 24, 2018 at 1:25 pm #16306
No in the end it didn’t, no signal. Have since read elsewhere that you need a vga to HDMI converter to get it to work.
PaulJanuary 24, 2018 at 1:36 pm #16307
I guess that’s where I mislead you – I was of the opinion that “adapter” was a “converter”. Adapt/convert – pretty much mean the same thing 🙂 You run the VGA to the converter box, then into the TV/display from the box. I’ve seen these on Amazon for under $20.January 26, 2018 at 1:49 pm #16345
When the 2nd screen is opened in a window, drag the window onto the screen you wish it to be displayed on and then click the maximise button.
The ‘Always Open Screen 2 in Window’ option is in the ‘Video Options’ section of the main options menu
Could you please expand on the above , how do I drag the window to the screen that I want display on.
PaulJanuary 26, 2018 at 1:56 pm #16346
Make sure you have your display settings (in windows) on “extended display mode” then open up Karaoki, click the screen 2 button at the bottom (button with a “2” on it) to launch the floating window. Click and drag from the top bar of the floating window – literally drag it off the right side of your screen and it will appear on screen 2. Then you can maximize it there.

Thanks once again all worked

I’m trying to set up a 2nd monitor, but I do not a “Screen 2” option on my PCDJ screen. My previous version of PCDJ had it but I just now noticed that the newer one I bought a couple of years ago does not have a “Screen 2” option displayed. Is it hidden in one of the settings?March 13, 2019 at 10:40 am #25990

Ryan, thanks again. After I found the button it was easy!July 3, 2020 at 2:40 pm #27705
when I open dex3 there is no second monitor although I have enabled it on the video section. When I plug a second monitor in it appears on the top of the main screen but it can’t be dragged anywhere because the top of the second monitor screen is stuck behind the top bar where safari, file, edit etc is. After a while it becomes unstuck and Im able to place it on a second monitor. But the program always crashes at some point. every update seems bring its own problems any suggestions

The screen 2 floating window always recalls the very last X/Y position it was in when you last closed it down. Go into options in DEX 3, click the “data folder’ button under the general tab. This will open up the new location of the data folder (in version 3.14). Now close DEX 3. Go into the “settings” folder and delete the file labeled “preferences”. After that, relaunch DEX 3 and the floating window will initialize and then ‘close’. You will then be able to launch it again by clicking the center preview video window on screen or from the check box in options.
If you’re not always going to use the same screen 2 configuration I recommend you minimize the floating screen 2 windows and bring it back to your main display prior to closing DEX 3.
What are the specifications of your MAC? Are you running DEX 3.14 now?
Also, we have automatic crash logging in DEX 3.14 right now – the only DEX 3 specific crash logs we’re receiving right now are zip karaoke file related (unsupported zip formats). This will be addressed with a new unzip method, which will launch in the next DEX 3 update.July 3, 2020 at 4:03 pm #27708
Thanks that worked i now have my second monitor but there is a big blue P A on the screens which overlays the words has is this something newJuly 3, 2020 at 4:18 pm #27709
No. Nothing we added. Sounds like you were maybe playing with the overlays feature? Sounds like a text overlay is enabled. You can access/edit overlays from options -> video (click the edit overlay’s button to access)July 5, 2020 at 8:35 pm #27711
my automix isn’t working the slider moves from side to side non stop but no songs are loading any suggestions
thanks hywelJuly 6, 2020 at 10:15 am #27713
This is really the wrong thread/forum to continue to ask questions about DEX 3 (this is a thread regarding Karaoki).
As long as you have songs in the sidelist/automix list the automix will load/play them. This video may help:
If you have songs in the sidelist and they’re not loading, it because they are dead/broken links – songs are not actually attached to the entries in the database. It means the songs were in once place when you imported them into DEX 3 but now they have moved, so that results in broken links in the DB.July 6, 2020 at 12:16 pm #27715
i can add them manualy so they can’t be dead files or they wouldn’t load at all so still confused .

Again, are you loading the songs into the side list first, as demonstrated in the video I provided a link to prior? Make sure you’re in the “LIST” in the sidelist, not the karaoke rotation list (so the list icon above the sidelist should be clicked, not the microphone icon). If there are songs in the regular sidelist (not karaoke rotation list) than automix should mix down the list of songs, fading from track to track seamlessly.July 6, 2020 at 2:13 pm #27719
working fine now clicked list but it’s working regardless
of if it’s on list or karaoke ok hope all will be ok for now until the next update at least then the fun begins again lol thanks
