I am getting an error message when I try to load PCDJ Red 5.1 – cannot create file H:/program files/visionsonic/PCDJ Red/PCDJ Red.user.
Can anyone please advise how to solve this problem….thanks…..John.
September 30, 2019 at 12:31 pm #26798Are you trying to install it on Windows 8 or 10? It won’t work on a newer Windows OS, especially 64bit.
December 18, 2019 at 11:33 pm #27128Gents I have been using PCDJ for over 20 years. 5.3 version from Visiosonic. I came on a PC i bought from someone and I have just been upgrading PCs and migrating the software over the years.
2 things you’ll need to run PCDJ 5.1 Red on a Windows system other than XP and if you want to run PCDJ today, because it does have a time-lock embedded into this software. It stops running I believe after July of 2007. At the time I didn’t know what what was going on as I kept getting error every time I would load a song into the players. After extensive research I discovered the time-lock. So the first thing you’ll need to down load is a free program called Cracklock. It allows you to run any program with a time-lock (not allowing you to run the program after a certain date).
Once you have PCDJ installed the first thing you do is right click on the program execution file located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Visiosonic\PCDJ Red folder, and choose Properties. Click the Compatibility tab. In the Compatibility box choose Windows XP SP3. Check the box (run this program in compatibility mode for:) , click OK.
Install Cracklock, open it, Add Program, then choose PCDJ application in the install directory as above. Right click the PCDJ icon in Cracklock, choose Injection mode tab, then click the option to create a desktop link. Click OK. Then Close Cracklock. Done!
Doesnt take a rocket scientist to follow these guide. If you are familiar with PC environments you’ll figure this out quickly.
Once you follow my instructions above you will now be able to run PCDJ Red 5.3 on Windows 10 with no problems. Runs very smoothly without problems.
Cheers,
Dw

December 19, 2019 at 9:23 am #27130Thanks — I will say the ‘lock’ issue wasn’t intentional. It was a bug in Delphi (the programming language the old RED 5.2 etc were designed with) that impacted many products a few years back. Rolling back the clock or using your solution has worked for many. I have seen various issues with compatibility mode on Win10 however, but if it works for you, great.
December 20, 2019 at 1:47 am #27131You’re right. Win 10 is the single most difficult system PCDJ Red has had since its release. But thanks for the info on the time-lock. We always thought it was embedded in the program. lol!
Cracklock seems to work great with that issue without compromising the entire Win OS.
