I have been having a problem recently with MP3 files. When I load them into the record case, the file lengths are always showing as almost double the actual length. This doesn’t occur with every file, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Obviously it creates a problem if I want to auto mix.
If you look at the file under windows explorer or load them into iTunes or windows media player, the correct play length shows. These files are not even DRM protected they are just from an old CD that I wanted to upload to include in my library.
This is running on a Windows 8.1 pro laptop with i5-3210M cpu @ 2.5ghz x64
Any help greatly appreciated.
I assume it must be something with the file header or the format/how it was encoded. We would need to see an example file to determine the cause. Can you email me a file this happens on to rsherr (at) PCDJ (.) com
I’m on holiday at the moment so will send you next week.
The mp3s were encoded from iTunes at 160kbs
It’s weird because not all mp3s do it and they all play fine on windows media player or through iTunes.
Speak next week.
Not all that weird, there are many variables, encoders etc. Although I have no issues with iTunes encoded tracks.
Definitely would like a copy of a file when you can, thanks!
