Pulselocker Streaming Subscription Pricing And FAQ

Pulselocker Frequently Asked Questions

To much surprise for DEX 3 users and the DJ market, we recently launched a release candidate of our DEX 3.5 DJ mixing software with Pulselocker streaming integration. DEX 3.5 is the first DJ software platform to launch with Pulselocker.

While Pulselocker is still in beta, the online/offline streaming service is already available for a 2 week free trial within DEX 3.5. Many DEX 3 users have already taken the plunge and have tested the integration and in-app access to 44+ million songs over the last 14 days and the questions have been rolling in:  How much?  What happens when I don’t have internet access?  Do I get to keep the music? And more.

We hope to answer some of these questions today.  Keep in mind that the good folks over at Pulselocker are working diligently to get the service out of beta and to a first full-fledged public release, and much of that is predicated on ingesting more content (many thousands of tracks are still being added to the platform daily) and applying meta-data. It’s growing and evolving.

Q & A

Q: Do you need internet to use the subscription with DEX 3.5?

A: With the ‘Pro Plan’ ($19.99) you will need internet to access the Pulselocker website. There you can build playlists and choose to save them, or individual tracks and albums, for offline use.  When you then log into the service through the DEX 3.5 browser your offline tracks will automatically sync and be stored for offline use.  You won’t need internet to play any tracks you’ve selected for offline use.

With the ‘Basic Plan’ ($9.99) you will need internet access at all times, as with this tier it’s ‘streaming only’ — no offline playback.

Q: Is there any benefit to being logged in while at a gig?

A: Yes, as you can search the entire 44+ million catalog from within the DEX 3.5 browser directly. If you take requests, this is an awesome advantage.

Q: What genre’s are included and how far back does the catalog go?

A: Pulselocker includes all genres, from major and independent labels. The catalog includes tracks from as far back as they have been recording music — it’s everything, like Spotify for DJs.

Q: How current is the catalog of music?

A: Very, in our testing we found many freshly released tunes and tracks currently on Billboard Charts.

Q: What bit rate are the tracks encoded at?

A: All tracks are encoded at 320Kbps, unless otherwise supplied in lesser quality by the labels (in those instances the tracks are encoded at 256kbps).

Q: What happens if I miss a payment?

A: This is a subscription, therefore if you want to use the catalog of tunes you have to pay for it. The tracks will ‘shut off’ if you do not pay. You can update your billing credentials at Pulselocker.com if you need to change your payment method.

Q: How long can I be offline with tracks I download locally to my DJ computer?

A: You can store Pulselocker track downloads for 30 days offline, without internet access.

Q: How does the music discovery tool work?

A: Pulselocker includes a music discovery ‘Beat Selector/Radio’ tool. When using it the platform will suggest songs to listen to that you can stream right from the Pulselocker website. These tracks are typically new releases from the Genre’s you’ve setup to ‘Follow’. You can immediately add any track you hear to a playlist and/or save for offline use.

Q: Do I need a credit card for the free trial?

A: No credit card needed to try Puslelocker free for 14 days.

Q: Can I cancel anytime, without penalty?

A: Yes, you’re not locked into a contract, nor are early termination fee’s applied.
