To Play MP4 Karaoke and video files you will need to install a Codec package, common packages are K-Lite and CCCP, these can be troublesome to setup correctly and can take hours to get working on some machines.

We now have a Codec package that’s been pre-configured especially for use with mp4 karaoke & video files. We have had good results using this codec package without any of the “Normal Tweaks” required to make other codec packages work. The KaraokeCodecPackage has also worked well when the others cannot be made to work at all.

The link for the download is **** HERE *****
Once downloaded, here is the installation procedure:
    1. Uninstall CCCP, K-Lite or similar codec packs.
    2. Reboot
    3. Unzip and Install the ‘KaraokeCodecPack’
    4. Reboot
    5. Test an mp4 video with Karaoki, if the video plays you’re done, if not go to 6.
    6. Close Karaoki
    7. Re-run the ‘Karaoke Codec Pack’ installer
    8. Reboot
    9. Go to 5.

On most machines it will worked on the first or second attempt, however on some machines a 3rd attempt is sometimes required.

If you still cannot play MP4 video in Karaoki then try the following.
By now you should have installed ‘Karaoke Codec Package, If not then do it now; then:

The following instructions are for windows 10; Windows 8/8.1 will be similar.
    1. Clicked start and located the Karaoke codec Package on the start menu
    2. Click on the folder and then right click on ‘Install all Codecs (Run As Admin)’ Select ‘More > Open file location’, you will now see the folder that contains the installer files.
    3. Right Click on “Install All Codecs (Run As Admin)
    4. Click “Run As Administrator”
    5. You will now see an options dialogue, asking if you would like the app to make changes to your system, Click ‘YES’ you will get 6 pop-ups informing you if the installation was successful or not.

    And for Win 7:
    1. Clicked start and located the Karaoke codec Package on the start menu
    2. Click on the folder and then right click on ‘Install all Codecs (Run As Admin)
    3. Right Click on “Install All Codecs (Run As Admin) and 4. Click “Run As Administrator”
    4. You will now see an options dialogue, asking if you would like the app to make changes to your system, Click ‘YES’ you will get 6 pop-ups informing you if the installation was successful or not.

    Finally Test!!

This codec pack worked here the very first attempt on a Windows 10 machine I wasn’t having much luck with (tried all other codec packs, but not all their various tweaks). NICE!

    Hi Alan,
    Long time haven’t had problem,

codec won’t work on my Acer Aspire E 17 E5-774g. As soon as i try to load the MP4, takes long to load and as soon as i start (2seconds) karaoki crashes. Went through all the procedure, still won’t work!

    Help!

You may have to try other codec packs – it’s definitely not ‘one-size-fits-all’ and other factors such as other media software on the machine, your graphics card/graphics card drivers play a part. You can try the Mega Lite codec pack or the CCCP pack next. Here’s a link to the Mega Lite which has worked for many users:

Wondering how come MP4 will be working on DEX3 but not on KARAOKI on same computer?

That’s because DEX 3 is a native video player (uses it’s own custom video decoder) where Karaoki is a native karaoke file format player but requires codecs for playing videos. Two totally different animals.

We have recently found that some of the older versions of Karaoki seem to play nicer with the codec packs – which is actually a great help for us in helping to determine how to make sure a future Karaoki update will always support video (by installing our own codec pack or the like). You can try it if you’re having issues by installing the last public release of Karaoki from this page: http://www.pcdj.com/support/karaoki_support/

Thanks Ryan but did not work, installed codec 4 times rebooting in between each time!!! 🙁 Not using the on board video card, just the Nvidia GEforce 940MX!

You tried installing the older Karaoki update? You should then try another codec pack if the one we provide in this thread doesn’t work. Try the Mega Lite Codec Pack which many have had success with HERE

    Update:
For some users the ‘Karaoke Codec pack’ had memory issues when used on Karaoki Build #0.8.6368.23085 and also some earlier builds, this now appears to be fixed in the latest beta’s (Build #0.8.6537.25218 Nov 24th 2017 & Build #0.8.6546.25377 Dec 3rd 2017).

When playing MP4 video, on build 0.8.6368.xxxx (and earlier) Karaoki would consume more and more memory until Karaoki would finally crash. I have been testing and with the new betas the memory usage now seems stable and after 4 hours use the memory usage only fluctuated by 250BM depending on what was being played and the case loaded. these tests were carried out on a machine that was suffering from this issue on the old beta.

    Alan.
